On Sunday, Pol Lt Gen Kamronwit Toopkrajang, the former chairman, defeated Chan Puangpetch to win re-election as chair of the Pathum Thani provincial administration organization ( PAO ), winning with a comfortable victory in a re-run of the previously annulled election.
The original Metropolitan Police Bureau captain received 187, 975 seats,  , against 120, 007 vote for Mr Chan, in the vote on Sunday, according to unofficial results announced by Pathum Thani election authorities on Monday.
Pol Lt Gen Kamronwit, who had less than 2, 000 seats to lose to his rival, was pleased with the result. The Election Commission  , afterward ordered a ballot re-run, accusing Mr Chan of breaching vote laws by sponsoring leisure activities to get help.
Pol Lt Gen Kamronwit, praised Pathum Thani people for their support in a blog on his Instagram page on Sunday nights.
Even though the two politicians ran without any formal associations to any party, the competition between them was seen as a check for the popularity of the provincial Pheu Thai Party.
In the previous election, Mr. Chan was directly supported by the ruling party, who also supported his plan. However, because of concerns that using the group’s name when canvassing for seats, Mr. Chan kept his distance from Pheu Thai this day.
According to the Thai Post online report, Mr. Chan said he remained faithful to Pheu Thai but did not like his plan to have an impact on the group and former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.
Due to his demise in July, Pol Lt Gen Kamronwit was the president of the Pathum Thani PAO. The result of Sunday’s re-run ballot, if confirmed by the vote firm, returns him to the place.  ,
Less than half the 953, 302 eligible citizens turned out at polling stalls on Sunday.
