Tawee claims that the current contract rules are vague and that independent bodies have too much authority.
Justice Minister Tawee Sodsong has argued that the constitution‘s rules on ethics for political office holders should be amended, arguing that the concept of “honesty” provided by such procedures is ambiguous.
The recent law has been in use for more than seven years, according to Pol Col Tawee, the head of the Prachachart Party, and his group has backed amendments to dangerous rules.
He made reference to Part 160, which specifies requirements for those seeking to join the cabinet. They are required to be blatantly fair, and they must not conduct serious ethics violations against political officeholders.
There is no clear concept of ethics. To what degree does the name’ integrity ‘ have to be defined”? he asked artistically.
He referred to Srettha Thavisin’s removal from the post of prime minister on August 14 as an honest violation of his appointing former convict to the cabinet of minister, Pichit Chuenban.
According to Pol Col Tawee, separate authorities have too much power that needs to be restrained.
” We agree with independent companies keeping the government in check and tackling problem, but they should work within the correct guidelines”, he said. Political events are also possible to dissolve very easily under the law.
The contract court ruled last month that the Move Forward Party bedissolved and that 11 of its administrative members be barred from politics for ten years because the group’s proposal to amend the Lese-majeste law threatened the country’s constitutional king and national security.
The criticism People’s Party, the rebirth of Move Forward, this month expressed its support for greater quality when it comes to defining morality. Many of its associates are listed among the 44 Move Forward people who are still facing ethics inquiries because of their support for lese-majeste rules reform.
Pol Col Tawee said contract amendments addresses issues including decentralisation, and person’s rights and freedoms, but opinions from different sectors may be gathered.
Somchai Srisutthiyakorn, a former election inspector, warned on Thursday that any attempts to modify the contract, especially provisions regarding ethics for politicians and the context of power of separate agencies, may fail.
” Is it suggestive of blanket parole”? Mr Somchai asked, citing the Pheu Thai Party’s earlier pay to go for a bill during the Yingluck Shinawatra management. That ignited large city protests, which led to the 2014 revolution that ousted the Pheu Thai-led state.
The cover amnesty bill was viewed as an effort to legalize her older brother, former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who was at the time in self-exile worldwide.
