Johor sultan says he won’t be rushed into making a decision on changing weekend rest days

Earlier this month, Sultan Ibrahim fulfilled with Chief Minister Onn Hafiz Ghazi where the ruler had been presented with the state government’s findings for the streamlining of the weekend relaxation days in Johor.  

In a Facebook posting after the meeting, Mister Onn Hafiz stated that he hoped the particular ruler would give their best consideration over the matter for the individuals of Johor.  

The state continues to be observing Friday plus Saturday as its formal weekend since January 2014 to allow Muslims to perform their Fri prayers, as decreed by the Johor’s ruler.    

Other Malaysian says of Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu also provide Friday and Sunday as their stipulated weekend break rest days.

In June, Mister Onn Hafiz observed that there have been grouses from the people in regards to the difference in sleep days between the federal government and the private industry.

“The local government will review this matter so that mother and father and their children are able to have a rest on a single days, ” he said then.  

Mr Onn Hafiz added that the state government would after that compile a report for the issue after meeting with representatives from numerous sectors, such as the govt, public service, schooling, industrial players and the Malaysian Employers Federation.
