JOHOR BARU: Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi will be carrying out an official three-day working visit to Singapore starting this Sunday (Feb 12).
This will be the third time Onn Hafiz makes an official work visit to the island republic since being sworn in as the 19th Johor Mentri Besar on March 15 last year.
The Machap assemblyman said that he met with Singapore Consul-General in Johor Baru Jeevan Singh to discuss his working trip across the Causeway.
“During the short visit, I will meet with several Singapore ministers. Besides that, I am scheduled to meet with the Singapore Business Federation and Singapore Manufacturing Federation.
“As a neighbour, I wish to further strengthen Johor and Singapore’s good relations and cooperation in various fields for the well-being of both sides,” he said in a statement on his Facebook page here Thursday (Feb 9).
Singapore is Johor’s biggest investor where until June last year, about 70% of foreign direct investment (FDI) the state received was from the island republic.
In the first six months of last year, FDI for the manufacturing sector was RM5.65bil, with about 70% or close to RM4bil coming from Singapore, mostly in the electric and electronics (E &E) as well as medical equipment sectors.
