Japan’s Kobayashi factory searched over deaths possibly linked to supplements

Since it received reports of liver disease linked to the merchandise, Kobayashi announced on Friday that it was looking into a possible connection between the items and their results on the kidneys.

As of Thursday night, 114 people had been hospitalised and five had died after taking the pills, which were marketed as helping lower lipid levels, according to the business.

Kobayashi stated that it is looking into the latest problems ‘ profitability impact.

After receiving reports of kidney problems, the firm has been recalling items made of Beni-Koji in recent days.

State media reported on Friday that a Chinese consumer organization was urging consumers to stop using the affected products because it was concerned about the danger of Kobayashi items.

Monascus purpureus, a dark mold that is also used as a dark color in some food, is present in Beni-Koji.
