In the event of an “emergency,” Japan announced a plan on Thursday ( Mar 27 ) to evacuate around 120, 000 residents and tourists from its southern islets close to Taiwan in less than six days.
According to the president’s crisis management company, the plan was created as” the protection situation surrounding our society becomes serious” and with an “emergency” in mind.
The plan envisages the removal of about 120 000 people in five Chinese islets close to Taiwan, but it did not specify what that emergency may be.
Taiwan is regarded as a part of its place by China, and it has increased military force in recent years, leading to near-daily airstrikes. It has not ruled out using force to encircle the self-ruled area.
In accordance with the plan, military vehicles, personal ferries, and aircraft will be mobilized to assist with the evacuation of the islets, including Kyushu area, located at the southern end of the Japanese archipelago.
According to the schedule, this is more than twice the normal transportation capacity, completing the migration in six days.
In December, the Pentagon’s congressionally mandated yearly report stated that China “amplified” its political, social, and military force against Taiwan in 2023.
According to information from Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense, the Pentagon even reported an increase in Foreign aircraft passing the Taiwan Strait centerline in 2023.
