TOKYO: A city in far eastern Japan logged the particular country’s highest heat for a June time on Saturday (Jun 25), breaking over 40 degrees Celsius, the weather bureau mentioned.
The heatwave, which the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) expects to persist throughout the summer, came as the government called on households plus businesses to save electricity to avoid possible energy crunch until Sept.
A climate station recorded a temperature of 40. 2 degrees Grad on Saturday afternoon, in Isesaki, the city 85km southwest of Tokyo, based on JMA.
The figure broke the previous record of Japan’s hottest June day – 39. eight degrees Celsius observed on Jun 24, 2011.
“A strong anticyclone from the Pacific, coupled with the cloudless weather, introduced the heat, ” a JMA official said.
