Japan PM to replace foreign and defence ministers: Reports

According to reports released on Tuesday( Sep 12 ), Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida intends to change his foreign and defense officials in order to increase the number of people in government positions.

Before a group command election next year, Kishida, who took office in October 2021, has seen his reputation as well as his position within the ruling Liberal Democratic Party decline.

The modifications, which are scheduled to be made public on Wednesday, even occur at a time when the crucial US alliance is dealing with escalating hostilities with China and North Korea.

Past justice minister Yoko Kamikawa, 70, may succeed Yoshimasa Hayashi as foreign minister, according to a report by common broadcaster NHK and other advertising on Tuesday.

According to NHK, Kamikawa will join the new card as one of five women in addition to the present two.

Along with the cabinets from 2001 and 2014, the number would be the combined highest.

When Japan executed the president and members of Aum Shinrikyo five years ago for their involvement in the dangerous 1995 sarin assault on the Tokyo train, Kamikawa was the justice minister.
