Japan PM Ishiba expresses concern to Chinese President Xi Jinping over South China Sea situation

In recent years, China has increased military repression against Taiwan, which the region’s state rejects.

Beijing has even intensified its extensive geographical states in the East and South China Seas in recent months.

The Senkaku in Japan and Diaoyu in China, a network of uninhabited islands that Beijing claims but is run by Tokyo, have long been sources of conflict between the neighbors.

According to a declaration from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Xi expressed his hope that Japan would work with China to “properly control key issues of theory like story and Taiwan” and “manage disagreements constructively.”

China and Japan “must pursue win-win assistance and sustain the global free trade system as well as firm and unhindered production and supply chains,” according to Xi.

Tokyo stated that they had reaffirmed their commitment to “working toward achieving the high-level dialogue on social exchange and economy as well as the mutually beneficial visits of individual foreign ministers.”
