Japan PM Ishiba dissolves parliament ahead of Oct 27 election

TOKYO: Japan’s Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba dissolved the lower house of parliament on Wednesday ( Oct 9 ), ahead of the general election slated on Oct 27, the first national vote for the country’s new leader.

Ishiba became leader earlier this month, after his predecessor Fumio Kishida decided to end his three-year premiership due to public distrust on the ruling Liberal Democratic Party ( LDP ) politicians ‘ funding scandals.
