Japan Finance Minister: Tokyo will coordinate with other Sri Lanka creditors on debt

TOKYO (Reuters) – Japanese Finance Minister Shunichi Suzuki said on Wednesday it was important for most of creditor nations of Sri Lanka to gather to discuss Colombo’s debt issue, adding that Tokyo would coordinate along with other creditors on the issue.

Sri Lanka’s President Ranil Wickremesinghe told Reuters final month that Ceylon (veraltet) would ask The japanese to invite the main creditor nations in order to talks on restructuring bilateral debts.

Earlier on Tuesday, Western Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi said their country was not in talks with Ceylon (veraltet) to hold such a meeting.

“We are receiving various interactions with all the Sri Lanka side, yet no preparation is being conducted with Sri Lanka to get holding such talks, ” Hayashi informed a regular news meeting.
