RESULTS OF Activities

According to a communications record made public by the Chinese government, air traffic control gave the all-clear at 5.44.56 p.m. for Japan Airlines journey JAL- 516 to get on airport 34R after it arrived from Hokkaido.

Coast guard trip JA722A received a 15-second instruction to “taxi to holding level C5” on the tarmac, which was at least 50 meters from the runway’s edge.

The JA722A captain soon acknowledged the order after that.

Two minutes after, the Japan Airlines flight touched down and collided with the DHC- 8 plane of the coast guard, indicating that the latter had entered the true runway.

Broadcaster NHK reported that JA722A captain Genki Miyamoto, the sole survivor, declared he had permission to take off as soon as the crash occurred.

According to an airport spokesman, the JAL trip crew did not “visually contact” the other plane, but one did notice” an thing” just before impact.
