DEFENCE SAYS LEE WAS GRIEVING PET DOG’S DEATH
In prevention, military prosecutor Mr James Gomez said that Lee lacked “parental link” during his childhood and was often only.
He grew up in an environment where he repressed his feelings, and this led to him developing major depressive disorder, said the attorney.
Lee saw a physician for at least a month prior to the crimes for help juggling work and school at the same time.
Mr. Gomez claimed that Lee was also near to his family’s pet dog, who had been there for almost ten years.
Lee was leaving house for the treadmill two days before the crimes when he learned the puppy wasn’t in good health.
The dog passed away before Lee could take him to the physician the following day, but he had already made the decision. This framed his attitude during the crimes, the prosecutor said.
He was “overcommitted to lament and overwhelmed with pain” when he did not take his dog to the vet, according to Mr. Gomez.
As Lee’s girl was busy with work, he turned to social media to find business as he needed an “outlet” and to be around people, the prosecutor said.
” Alas, it happened to be the victim”, he said, arguing that Lee had just wanted to talk to the child and that there was no malice to the crimes.
He claimed Lee’s sweetheart and family remained friendly of him, adding that Lee continued to cooperate with investigations and that he had potential for recovery. He added that Lee did not try to hide behind his actions.
Additionally, Mr. Gomez claimed that Lee “did not understand” that the sufferer was actually 15 because she had openly described her table work-related activities.
However, the prosecutor withdrew the assertion after District Judge Kamala Ponnampalam pointed out that Lee’s appeal of grief was qualified.
After requesting a postponement to enjoy the Chinese New Year, Lee was given the opportunity to begin serving his sentence on February 11.
He could have been jailed for up to 10 times, fined, or both, for the crime of sexual penetration of a minor.
