The accused and the victim tried to avoid each other by switching bicycling and walking roads, but the accused’s proper grip collided with the victim’s right arm, according to Ms. Tan.
The effects caused Lee to drop forward, and her head hit the ground. Li even fell off her vehicle.
Ms Tan said that at the time of the incident, traffic stream was” clear”, the road surface was dry, the wind was great and visibility was evident.
Lee was struck by the truck and suffered a traumatic brain injury before being transported by ambulance to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.  ,
She died on Mar 20, 2023 at 5.36am due to a brain injury.
The accused had known about the malfunction of her pedals for two to three months prior to the collision, according to Ms. Tan.
” She did not repair it because she frequently did n’t see any pedestrians on the road when she used the bicycle to get to and from work,” she said.
Li had a “high stage of negligence,” the prosecutor claimed, noting that she was conscious of the defect but made the decision to fix it. She was sentenced to four to eight weeks in jail.
” Moreover, she was travelling at a quick speed on a slope at the time of the incident”, said the counsel.
Ms. Lim Lei Theng from Allen &, Gledhill, who pleaded for mercy on Li’s representative, told the jury that Lee was trying to avoid him on that fateful evening.
” They were both trying to avoid each other… It is an incident”, said the attorney.
District Judge Chee Min Ping argued that both the prosecution and Li were correct that Li was moving “at a strong rate” during the event and that this was an “aggravating factor.”
The judge added that during punishment, she considered Li’s regrets and first appeal of guilt.
People found guilty of negligently causing suicide may face a two-year sentence, a fine, or both.
