Jail for customer service officer who molested 18-year-old while helping her with arrival card at Woodlands Checkpoint

A person molested an 18-year-old woman while assisting her in filling out her SG Arrival Card while working at the Woodlands Checkpoint. &nbsp,

Mohamed Rashid Ahmad admitted using criminal force to insult someone’s modesty and was given a five-month prison sentence on Friday ( Mar 28 ).

The 70-year-old was a customer support agent at Woodlands Checkpoint at the time of the crime, according to the court. &nbsp,

He was assigned to assist passengers with filling out their entrance cards while stationed at an area designated for that purpose as part of his work. &nbsp,

The target arrived at the station on Jul 26, 2024, just before 11.10am, along with her family and an aunt, but they were not named due to a joke order. &nbsp,

They had planned to travel to Singapore for a moment before departing for Malaysia on the same day. &nbsp,

Only the defendant’s mother and aunt were able to use the integrated lanes at the traveler halls when they arrived at the checkpoint to receive emigration clearance.

The target approached Rashid, who offered his assistance, after finding fault with her appearance cards and went to get a new one. &nbsp,

The victim, a Taiwanese national, used a product to scan her passport before returning it to him. &nbsp,

He then instructed her to fill out her appearance card by entering the necessary information into the tablet, checking that her details were accurate, and asked her to confirm that her information was accurate. &nbsp,

Rashid tapped the defendant’s groin while she was filling out her cards with the back of his hands. &nbsp,

She primarily ignored his steps, believing it was unexpected.

Nevertheless, she began to feel uneasy and turned around when he repeatedly touched her in the same area, causing a temporary rift between herself and the accused. &nbsp,

Rashid next tapped her in the same area while placing his hand behind her back and pushing her forward, drawing her closer to the product and him. &nbsp,

The victim’s steps were reported to the court as making him feel incredibly uneasy and wary.

After about 15 days, she left the area and told her mother, who had just informed the agent at the station. &nbsp,

Rashid was later identified and detained.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Daniel Ong requested a word of four to five months in prison on Friday.

According to Mr. Ong,” There was some level of an misuse of place by the accused because he was employed as a customer service agent deployed at Woodlands Checkpoint and was working with the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority,” adding that this gave him the opportunity to get close to the target. &nbsp,

” The accused used this chance, and the victim’s reliance on him for guidance, to commit the crime. The victim’s attempted distance-making, and the accused pushed him nearer to him, is also troubling.

Rashid could have been sentenced to up to three years in prison, fined, and/or be caned for outraging a woman’s decorum for it. &nbsp,
