On Monday, the Roman versatile combat ship Raimondo Montecuccoli will dock in Chon Buri’s Laem Chabang.
Prior to that, the fleet docked in Japan and South Korea, where it conducted sea surveillance and monitoring operations.
The ship, completely built in Italy, is designed with improved “dual use” features to do both defense tasks including police, logistics travel and surface combat, and disaster relief activities to help civilians, according to a source.
The Raimondo Montecuccoli is the first in an anti-air warfare configuration and the fourth of seven versatile combat boats. The vessel is a part of the Roman navy’s operating renewal strategy, which was approved by the Roman government and parliament.
She was launched in May 2015, under the canopy of the Organisation for Joint Armament Cooperation, an global company whose core-business is the managing of complex, joint military equipment programs. When Laem Chabang departs on Friday, the ship may start operating again.
