Israeli arrested for illegally running nursery on Koh Phangan

Looking THANI: An Jewish woman has been detained on Koh Phangan after allegedly operating an illegitimate nursery for foreign children.

Four additional international people were detained for engaging in illegal employment and other alleged crimes.

Noppadol Khaomali, commander of Koh Phangan area, led local authorities, police, immigration officers and representatives from concerned authorities to inspect a property in tambon Koh Phangan in this southern state on Thursday. The building was allegedly used as a hospital for international kids.

According to Mr. Noppadol, the attack resulted in the arrest of five foreigners, three of whom were women and two gentlemen.

Suli Shulamite Avraham, 56, an Jewish federal and the nursery owner, was accused of being a foreign national setting up or operating a hospital without authorization, hiring foreign nationals without work permits, and failing to notify the local secretary of the hiring of unusual employees.

The two men- Alon Jacob, 50, an Israeli national, and Daniel Stewart, 38, a British national- were charged with being foreign nationals working with no work permits.

The two other women- Louise Cilliers, 42, a South African, and Hla Hla Win, 28, a Myanmar national- were charged with being foreign nationals with work permits failing to notify their employer, the location of a workplace and the type of work to the local registrar.

At Koh Phangan Police Station, police investigators filed legal claims against them.

An American woman was detained last week by police for allegedly operating an illegal nursery on this tourist island, home to the well-known Full Moon Party.

Some 20 foreign children were found in the premises. Four housekeepers from Myanmar and three foreign women who worked as babysitters were also detained and accused of working illegally.

On Tuesday, a Russian man was arrested&nbsp, for illegally operating a vehicle rental business on Koh Phangan.
