Israel national pleads not guilty to trafficking bullets, possessing guns in Malaysia

Israeli national Shalom Avitan admitted guilt on Friday ( 12 April ) for bringing 158 bullets into Malaysia and having six firearms.

Avitan, 38, faces two charges under Malaysia’s Firearms ( Increased Penalties ) Act and claimed trial at Kuala Lumpur’s Sessions Court.

He was detained on Mar 27 at a lodge in the money. He claimed to be on a search for a fellow Israeli and informed Malay authorities. According to Jewish media, he was a member of a criminal gang and wanted to murder the head of a foe legal family.

Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain recently stated that the police have not excluded the possibility that he might have had other intentions.

” As I have pointed out, the suspect could be a threat to our leaders, foreign officials and even leaders from Hamas”, he told the media this month.

Avitan was discovered using a French card when she arrived in the country on March 12 on a journey from the United Arab Emirates.

According to Malaysian police, he paid a married Malaysian couple about 10, 000 ringgit ( US$ 2, 104.82 ) for each of the six guns, which were smuggled from neighbouring Thailand. &nbsp, The partners and another Malay suspected of acting as Avitan’s motorist had been arrested.

They are among 16 individuals who have been detained in connection with Avitan’s imprisonment, according to Inspector- General Razarudin.

According to Free Malaysia Today, Avitan’s event will be covered once on May 21 because Judge Tasmin Abu Bakar did not release him on bail, according to the media outlet Free Malaysia Now.
