According to deputy commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau ( MPB), Pol Maj Gen Noppasin Poonsawat, a Chinese-language interpreter was detained on Friday for his involvement in crimes relating to an April 25 incident in the Din Daeng neighborhood.

The speaker, identified as Theerachai Chaloemwanpen, 36, was arrested by MPB and Metropolitan Police Division 1 and sent to Din Daeng stop.

According to the officers, Mr. Theerachai acknowledged being a member of the crime gang that abducted five Chinese immigrants from a hotel room in Soi Pracha Songkroh 2, or Soi Sutthiporn, on April 25.

He was said to have been employed by Phaya Thai network’s customers deputy, identified as Pol Sgt Maj Weerayut Phetcharat, to function as an speaker with the assaulted Chinese on a 15, 000 bass regular income, according to Pol Maj Gen Noppasin.

A compensation demand for 2.5 million baht in online currency was demanded after five Chinese businessmen were kidnapped from the resort.

The group of 11 allegedly used four cars to kidnap the Chinese citizens, including former and present police officers, on surveillance footage.

Four days later, on April 29, the subjects reported the incident to the police at Din Daeng stop.

The analysis led to five permits against those involved, including Mr Theerachai, Pol Sgt Maj Weerayut, and Atthawut Sumonrattanakul, a former top sergeant major at Kannayao stop.

According to Pol Maj Gen Noppasin, Mr. Atthawut, who was previously barred from his opportunities a few years ago, was detained on Friday. He added that he had just expressed his willingness to testify in court. Pol Sgt Maj Weerayut, however, fled his warrant, said Pol Maj Gen Noppasin.

The authorities are currently looking for the other six gang members, according to Pol Maj Gen Noppasin.
