Indonesia's Mount Ruang volcano erupts again, closes international airport

MANADO: Indonesia’s remote Mount Ruang volcano erupted several times again on Tuesday ( Apr 30 ), the country’s volcanology agency said, forcing evacuations, the closure of a nearby international airport and the raising of the alert level to its highest.

More than 6,000 people were evacuated as a result of the volcano’s eruption, which it erupted more than a half dozen days this fortnight, giving authorities a warning that the threat from it was still present.

Ruang, located in Indonesia’s outer region of North Sulawesi state, erupted at around 1.15am local moment and half more Tuesday morning, the geological company said in a statement.

A castle of dust was sent by the mountain more than five kilometers into the sky, it claimed.

A six-kilometer exclusion zone was likewise updated, and the organization advised locals to be aware of” the potential for plumes of electric rocks, hot sky, and tsunamis due to eruption material entering the sea.”

A hot red column burst into the horizon, a huge dust cloud spilling from the volcano, and burning embers close to neighborhood homes were seen in images released by the company.
