YOGYAKARTA: Indonesian authorities are investigating the death of a 43-year-old gentleman who was reportedly beaten up by customers police officers in Yogyakarta.
The body of the victim, identified as Darso, was exhumed on Monday ( Jan 13 ) as part of the Central Java Police’s investigation after his family filed a report last Friday, news outlet Kompas reported.  ,
Three people are currently being looked into, according to Kompas on Monday, but their names are still a mystery.  ,
Six officials claiming to be from the Yogyakarta Customers Police Unit reportedly removed Darso from his house in Semarang on September 21 last year without issuing an arrest warrant. According to his brother Tocahyo, he was taken to a local sports field where he was reportedly beaten on his scalp, chest, and neck.  ,
Three of the officers returned two hours later to tell his partner that Darso had been taken to the local Permata Medika Hospital in Semarang.
Darso suffered severe injuries and spent three days receiving treatment at the intensive care unit ( ICU), before being moved to a regular ward for another three days, according to the news outlet Tribun. On Saturday ( Jan 12 ), his family attorney Antoni Yudha Timor told the media that he passed away at home in Semarang on September 29.
Darso was involved in a visitors crash on July 12th, according to local media. When he was traveling by car from Semarang to Yogyakarta, which are two hours off, he had a bicycle collision with a girl.
According to the Jakarta Globe, Darso’s family attorney Antoni explained that he took responsibility for the visitors injury by taking the victim to a doctor but left his identification card because he had not enough money to cover her medical expenses.  ,
According to Yogyakarta police captain Aditya Surya Dharma, the woman’s family reported to the Yogyakarta Customers Police Unit, which then dispatched officials to get explanations from Darso.
Antoni claimed that she only suffered minor injuries, while Aditya added that the girl had chest injuries and needed to use a chest prepare.  ,
FAMILY SAYS IT REJECTED” PEACE SETTLEMENT”
According to Kompas, Darso reported that he was taken to the hospital on September 21 after complaining of neck pain while with Yogyakarta Traffic Police Law Enforcement Unit officers.  ,
According to CNN Indonesia, Aditya noted that Darso had a history of heart disease and had had a catheter or spirit band inserted.  ,
Darso’s community wants the officers involved to be charged with aggravated assault causing accident, which carries a maximum prison sentence of 15 times, Jakarta Globe reported.  ,
According to Antoni,” There is a delay in making a police report because the culprits had visited the home some times to handle the event through a intervention.”
The officers involved seemingly offered his home a “peace arrangement” of 25 million ringgit ( US$ 1, 534), which they turned down, Kompas reported.  ,
His family Poniyem told the Jakarta Globe,” I turned down because my father told me to bring the case to justice.”  ,
While the Yogyakarta Traffic Police Unit has yet to comment on the reported peace settlement present, Yogyakarta Metropolitan Police spokesman Sujarwo said:” We are fully cooperating with the Central Java Police in their investigation of the case.
