Indonesia volcano eruption kills 10, sets villages aflame

EAST FLORES, Indonesia: As authorities raised the volcano’s call reputation to the highest level, it erupted immediately, killing at least 10 individuals as it spewed projectiles and ash onto nearby villages.

Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki, a 1, 703m mini mountain located on the popular holiday island of Flores, first erupted shortly before midnight, forcing regulators to leave many villages.

” The death toll from the Lewotobi Laki-Laki’s explosion is then 10 people”, hazard reduction agency spokeswoman Abdul Muhari said at a press conference.

AFP-received footage that showed heavy dust enveloping villages close to the volcano and some ignominable areas.

An AFP blogger near the mountain said five settlements evacuated, affecting thousands of residents.

Some sturdy homes caught fire, and the floor was strewn with holes brought on by exploding hot stones.

The volcano erupted just before evening and then again at 1.27am and 2.48am native moment, the country’s geological agency said.

It increased the level of caution to the highest and instructed locals and tourists never to engage in activities within a 7-kilometer diameter of the volcano.

According to a press release released on Monday,” There has been a major increase in volcanic action on Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki.”
