Indian PM Modi to advocate ‘peace’ on historic Ukraine visit

Kyiv has condemned Modi’s past political maneuvers.

His July visit to Moscow came shortly after a Soviet missile assault, one of the first strikes in a crowded neighborhood that left at least 39 people dead.

During that visit, Modi was pictured hugging Putin at his country’s home.

India has also been accused of profiting from Russia’s war.

Cut-off from European markets, Russia has become a major distributor of low-priced crude oil to India.

That agreement has considerably altered their economic ties, allowing India to save billions on gas while provoking accusations from the West that it has bolstered Moscow’s war fund.

The two places ‘ close ties date back to the Cold War, when the Kremlin was a major hands exporter.

But relations have also been strained over the fight, with Putin in 2022 formally acknowledging that Modi had” problems” over Russia’s war.

More recently, they have reportedly clashed over allegations that American citizens were tricked into fighting with Russian troops on the front lines.

Moscow has pressed for the return of several of its citizens who enlisted in” support jobs” with the Russian defense but were eventually engaged in combat.

In the conflict, at least five Hindu soldiers have died.
