Indian flood toll up to 77 as waters recede

Authorities in GUWAHATI, India, reported on Sunday, October 8, that at least 77 people had been confirmed dead as a result of the floods that hit the country’s north. Thousands more people were still cut off despite the waters receding due to destroyed roads and bridges.

On Wednesday, a high-altitude glacial lake immediately burst, sending violent torrents crashing into Sikkim condition.

Another 48 bodies had been found, according to Jalpaiguri city authorities in West Bengal, a neighboring state.

According to official statistics, more than 100 citizens are also missing.

Four days after the floods, water levels along the Teesta creek” returned to normal ,” according to an official from Sikkim’s state crisis control area.

According to the company, more than 2,500 citizens who were stranded by the floods were saved.

However, the death of roads, bridges, and phone lines throughout much of Sikkim has made emergency more difficult.
