India probes Google Maps after three deaths

Google announced on Tuesday ( Nov. 26 ) that it was working with Indian authorities to look into the deaths of three men who allegedly drove off an incomplete bridge while following a map’s route on Google Maps.

The group’s car slammed into the Ramganga valley early on Sunday as they prepared to leave for a wedding in Uttar Pradesh, north India.

The pilot followed Google Maps into taking the road, the Hindustan Times news said Tuesday, quoting police officers.

According to a report from the Press Trust of India media company, police interrogated an unknown official from the tracking app and others from the government’s public works department.

” Our deepest sympathies go out to the people. A Google spokesman told AFP in an emailed assertion that they were working closely with the government and offering their assistance with the investigation.

A bridge was reportedly damaged by a nearby police officer next year as a result of a storm.

Two doctors were killed in Kerala’s southwestern state last month when their auto plunged into the state’s Peshawar creek after they followed the application.
