WHAT IS THE KASHMIR QUESTION?
Since their 1947 independence from European law, India and Pakistan have divided Kashmir with a Muslim majority. Both assert the entire area.
Since 1989, separatists in the Indian-run region have been fighting for independence or a fusion with Pakistan.
In the fight, tens of thousands of people have died.
In 2019, the state’s minimal autonomy was revoked by the New Delhi government, and 500, 000 Indian soldiers are reportedly stationed permanently there.
WHO WERE THE ATTENTORS?
Two Pakistanis have been spotted among the three admitted attackers who are fugitives in India. The other is from India.
Police claim they belong to Lashkar-e-Taiba ( LeT ), a group that the UN has labeled a terrorist organization.
According to an unverified claim that some Indian media quoted, a dissenting organization called The Resistance Front ( TRF ) purportedly claimed responsibility.
TRF is referred to as a criminal organization by India’s Observer Research Foundation as” a diversion and an offshoot of LeT.”
Exactly who is accountable?
Islamabad is frequently held responsible by New Delhi for supporting Kashmiri militants.
Lahore refutes these accusations, saying that it only supports Kashmir’s fight for self-determination.
New Delhi made new allegations following this assault, claiming that Islamabad supported” cross-border terrorism.”
Pakistan has denied having any part in the assault.
INDIA HAS RESPONDED HOW?
Narendra Modi, the Indian prime minister, has pledged to “punish every criminal and their supporter.”
Additionally, New Delhi has taken a number of harsh political methods.
Among them are the water-sharing agreement being suspended, the principal land border crossing with Pakistan being closed, and the deterioration of political relations.
With the exception of the last ambassadors, India has mandated that all Pakistanis quit the country by April 29.
