In Kyiv, Modi urges Zelenskyy to sit down for talks with Russia

In a letter to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday ( Aug 23 ), India’s Narendra Modi demanded that he sit down for talks with Russia in order to end the conflict in Ukraine. He also pledged to act as a friend during their meeting in Kyiv.

The first time an Indian prime minister has visited a Russian country has ever been in current Ukrainian history. Russia launched a war in February 2022, and as Kyiv presses a cross-border incursion, Moscow made slow gains in eastern Ukraine.

Modi, whose visit to Moscow next month was criticized by Kyiv, stated that he had sent a message to Ukraine and that speech should be in order.

” Dialogue and geopolitics alone can bring about quality,” the author asserts. And we ought to proceed without wasting any time in that direction. Both parties should work up to resolve this crisis, Modi said.

” I want to let you know that India is ready to support any efforts to achieve harmony. If I may play any role in this physically, I will do that I want to tell you as a friend”, he said.

The remarks were made during combined statements, in which both officials hailed the visit as “historic”.
