Illegal foreign hairdressers arrested in Bangkok

Four South Koreans and one Burmese regional were detained in Bangkok for working in a profession reserved for Thai citizens.

At 3.15 p.m. on Tuesday, authorities raided a business on Sukhumvit Road. The name of the second-floor hairdresser was never released.

Some users waited while the officers discovered Thai and foreign hairdressers in the shop.

Two Vietnamese men and two Asian women with 90-day holiday visas, as well as one lady from Myanmar, were apprehended by police. Their age ranged from 24 to 33, said Pol Lt Col Thanakorn Ngamyen, assistant director of the Khlong Tan place.

According to the Department of Employment’s regulations, they were accused of performing an activity that was not permitted for foreigners.

No further information was soon made about the salon’s owners.
