Ill man gets 1st ID card at age 48

BURI RAM: Following 30 years associated with unsuccessful pleas with officialdom, a 48-year-old man has received his first-ever identity card after press publicised his situation.

Sena Sriphet  said on his house in tambon Nong Bua of Pa Kham district on Sunday that he was very glad to lastly have his IDENTIFICATION card and he would like to thank relevant authorities for the card issuance.

The man said he was born in Koh Chan district of Chon Buri and was the 6th of eight kids whose parents were labourers.

The parents had acquired birth certificates for his or her first five children but had not done so for the three more youthful ones, possibly due to the fact their work as daily labourers had kept them too entertained to inform the district office, Mr Sena said.

He said his two younger brothers and sisters successfully sought their ID cards on their own, but his three-decade-long quest to secure their own had not been in vain – despite showing to district authorities that his GENETICS matched those of their parents and siblings. He said the particular DNA examination had cost him about 10, 000 baht.

Without an ID card, Mister Sena said that he had been unable to receive any kind of welfare payments – including free medical services from the condition – and had been unable to apply for suitable job opportunities. He had been forced to work as a labourer, while a previous accident caused him to suffer the punctured intestine. He previously to borrow money to pay for his treatment.

He or she settled down with his wife in Buri Ram over a 10 years ago, but she had since passed away, leaving only his 30-year-old daughter left in the family.

Mr Sena shared his tale with reporters in Buri Ram at the end of last month. On Sunday Mr Sena said happily that he was very pleased to finally have got his first IDENTIFICATION card, and he had already used it to apply for government welfare schemes.

“I am happy to be a full Thai citizen. Earlier I resided with hardships particularly when I was ill mainly because I had to pay for therapy. Now that I have the particular ID card, I am eligible for free medical therapy and other welfare rights. I am thankful to any or all parties that helped get my IDENTIFICATION card issued, ” Mr Sena mentioned.
