Mr. Ross added that autoland facilities, a system that uses autopilot to command an aircraft’s approach and landing, are now present in some airports worldwide.
According to him, a aircraft management system like this can assist an airplane in landing in blind areas like dense fog that would have otherwise required it to change to another airport.
” I’m not entirely sure if Haneda Airport has that, but I do anticipate that it does… but this would also not pardon running into an airplane that was already on the runway,” Mr. Ross said.

Mr. Thomas claimed that the Coast Guard plane’s pilot, who was the only person to survive the accident despite suffering severe injuries, had “help considerably to understand where the confusion has arisen.”
