After several man-made hotspots were discovered in sensitive ecological areas, the Department of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Conservation ( DNP ) issued an order to close the Chiang Dao Wildlife Sanctuary in Chiang Mai province.
Attapol Charoenchansa, the district’s captain, said the temple is closed until jungle officials solve problems related to woodland invasion, forest burning and homestay ventures.
He claimed that man-made fires have destroyed a large number of forest areas with rich natural systems and biosphere reserves.
Prior to this time, the National Park Office producer Chiwat Limlikit- aksorn and his team had traveled to the place to deal with woodland encroachment and guesthouse activities. A report was released shortly after spots were discovered in the area.
” Serious treatment may be provided in the area because it’s where rare plants can grow. It is now under big danger from man- made fires”, Mr Attapol said, adding the country’s earth reserve may disappear without rigorous prevention measures.
He said the office will establish a specific product that will include law enforcement, land management, and rehabilitation teams to address the problem. Additionally, it may encourage the army to assist in halting illegal drug trades and aliens.
He added that the conflict between locals and forest authorities is the primary cause of forest fires in the area, and that some locals encroach on the area for illegal agricultural and homestay activities.
” Some people do n’t follow the law”, he said. Therefore, we had to engage in a serious discussion, and closing the area was one of our initial steps. The park will remain open until all issues are resolved.
In national conservation areas, 41, 874 hotspots were discovered over the past three months. According to the department, officials have filed legal action in 140 forest fire cases in which 13 firefighters have been hurt.
Meanwhile, a forest fire was reported on Friday in Khao Samo Pun in Muang Prachin Buri district, an area in Khao Yai National Park. On Saturday, sixty firefighters managed to contain the fire within a small area.
