Hotel fire in popular Bangkok tourist area kills 3 foreigners

BANGKOK: A blaze broke out at a resort on Bangkok’s Khao San Road, a popular tourist destination, killing three immigrants and injuring many other individuals, Thai authorities said.

According to Police Colonel Sanong Saengmanee, the three people who died in the fire on Sunday night ( December 29 ) were all foreigners. One victim was discovered dead at the scene, and the other two passed away after being hospitalized.

The blaze erupted on the second floors of the six-storey Ember Hotel, authorities said. The Thai capital’s famous” Khao San Road,” known for its vibrant nightclubs, is a well-known lodging street.

The cause of the flame is still being investigated, and the embers were finally extinguished.

At the time of the fireplace, 75 persons were staying at the hotel. Seven people were injured, including two Thai citizens and five immigrants.

Governor of Bangkok Chadchart Sittipunt stressed the importance of health following the incident, particularly as the countdown to the New Year’s Eve holidays draws to a close and lights and other events are planned throughout the city.
