Hot and bothered: Shouting match in Dewan Rakyat during Sexual Harassment Bill debate

KUALA LUMPUR: A shouting match pennyless out in the Dewan Rakyat while the Sexual Harassment Bill was being debated after Datuk Tajuddin Abdul Rahman (BN-Pasir Salak) went on a tirade towards Opposition lawmakers, even going on to call several women MPs indecent.

Tajuddin said the Opposition MPs wanted to damage his reputation along with 2 other MPs.

“So-called disrespectful in order to women. They do not know the three of us. You don’t know how we treat females, ” he stated.

“You wish to spoil our image. We have won the election most of the time, most wanita (women) support us, ” he or she added.

Tajuddin was calling them out for labelling him as one of the MPs who had been prone to make sexist remarks. He had been referring to Teo Nie Ching (PH-Kulai)’s statement during her discussion on Tuesday (July 19), naming Tajuddin and two various other MPs as being susceptible to such behaviours.

“Some of you might have bad mouth. I don’t want to take brands. They (like to) stoke flames, start and challenge myself and the Speaker, ” he said.

RSN Rayer (PH-Jelutong) asked Deputy Loudspeaker Datuk Rashid Hasnon whether he would keep allow Tajuddin to go on with his behaviour.

“Are you not daring enough to send him out? ” he or she asked.

Even after the microphone has been turned off, Tajuddin was heard shouting.

Several Opposition MPs said his activities were inappropriate plus disrespectful as the Intimate Harassment Bill was being debated.

Kasthuri Patto (PH-Batu Kawan) said Tajuddin hurled expletives once the microphone was turned off.

“He just cussed in this House. He used bad terms in the house. He insulted women MPs. You let Pasir Salak walk away, ” she said.
