HONG KONG:  , Hong Kong will ban the possession and use of e-cigarette cartridges in public by mid-2026, the city’s top health official said on Sunday ( Feb 9 ) as the government pushed ahead with its anti-tobacco agenda.
Even though the Chinese capital in April 2022 prohibited the trade, production, and sale of e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products, vaping continues to be a common practice in Hong Kong.
” To defend our young folks, we believe it is time to ban the use of e-cigarette bullets”, Secretary for Health Lo Chung-mau said on a television program.
” We will begin by passing a law prohibiting outside hands and use,” Lo said. When the general public becomes familiar with the restrictions, we will put it into effect everywhere.
The legislation, which was first proposed last year as a general restrictions on e-cigarettes, will be sent to the government in April with the intention of implementing it by mid-2026, Lo said.
Because there will be “many police difficulties” in indoor areas, the ban will begin in public places.
