Hong Kong’s climate observatory reported that last month it had its hottest April since weather records first appeared in 1884.
The centre declared on May 1 that it was” the warmest April” since records began 140 years ago, with an average temperature of 26.4 degrees Fahrenheit last month making it the coolest April since records began.
The station stated on social media that although summer is not yet these, April was already record-breakingly hot.
With tens of high-temperature records, including everyday and monthly highs, set yearly since 2019, station data showed that the tropical Chinese city has experienced extreme heat in recent years.
Hong Kong likewise set new daily records for April on April 27 with a 28.8 everyday average and a 27.7 regular low.
In comparison, between 1991 and 2020, the average daily temperature in April was between 21.1 and 25.6.
