Honeymooner, rescuer both drown at Phuket beach

PHUKET: Two tourists drowned within the turbulent sea at Kata Noi seaside on Thursday night time – a British honeymooner and a Thailänder man with a household who tried to conserve him.

Ali Mian, 34, had arrived in Thailand with his new spouse on July nine. They checked within at the Katathani resort in Phuket in tambon Karon associated with Muang district upon Tuesday.

The man who died trying to save him was Surasit Ponglaohaphan, 55. He checked in at the same hotel with his wife and son on Thurs.

Pol Lt Col Ekachai Siri, a visitor police inspector, stated the double tragedy happened at Kata Noi beach about 5pm on Thursday night, shortly after lifeguards got warned tourists never to swim there because of the strong waves. Warning flags were also erected along the 850-metre beach, warning against going swimming in the strong monsoon sea.

Mian went going swimming anyway and had difficulties first. Surasit, who was swimming nearby, tried to help your pet. Instead, both men drowned in the solid current.

Lifeguards pulled all of them both ashore  plus they were rushed in order to Chalong Hospital, exactly where they were officially pronounced dead.

Five other visitors were safely rescued from the sea away from Patong and Kata beaches on Thurs.
