In the five days from December 27 to December 31, traffic accidents involving the New Year’s Day in Thailand claimed 215 life and hurt 1,354 people.
According to Somsak Thepsutin, the minister of public health, 1, 398 traffic fatalities were the cause of the deaths during the time.
According to the secretary, the highest death burden, 10, was recorded in both Bangkok and Nonthaburi.
The most injuries, 44, occurred in Ayuthaya and the highest amount of wounded people, 43, was reported in Phuket. There were no fatalities in 11 out of 77 counties nationwide.
Due to people returning to Bangkok and other provinces of monetary value on Tuesday night after the New Year’s Eve celebrations, Mr. Somsak claimed there was visitors congestion on major and minor highways on Wednesday.
Suriya Singhakamol, director-general of the Department of Probation, said that from Dec 27 to 31, 4, 020 drivers were on parole. They consisted of 3, 884 drunk drivers, 132 cars who abused medicines and four irresponsible drivers.
The highest amount of drink-driving situations, 397, was reported in Chiang Mai, followed by 294 in Bangkok and 258 in Samut Prakan, he said.
