Two people arrested on individual trafficking costs in follow-up to earlier research
Two young women have been detained differently for their alleged participation in allegedly coercing 25 underage cultural girls from northeastern Thailand into having sex with Chinese people in Bangkok.
Police from the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Division ( ATPD ) apprehended Nalatporn, 22, at a massage shop in Muang district of Suphan Buri province on Thursday. On the same day, Panida, age 21, was detained at a property in Bangkok’s Huai Khwang region. Their names were never disclosed.
The two ladies were detained under arrest warrants from the Criminal Court for individual trafficking for extorting minors between the ages of 15 and 18 into adultery and profiting from the meat industry.
The arrests came after a policeman operation allegedly involving a human trafficking gang that had duped 25 Mae Hong Son cultural girls under the age of 18 into visiting Bangkok, where they were forced to have sex with Chinese tourists in expensive hotels. Five underage girls were detained last year on suspicion of collecting.
The women were taken to various locations in Bangkok by the suspects, according to authorities, and the five suspects also bought them phones before bringing them to hotels to have sex with Chinese tourists.
According to researchers, the customers offered up to 200, 000 ringgit to virgin girls, and do pay half that amount to virgins. Some girls fell for cruel customers who sexually assaulted them without using condoms.
Eventually, researchers expanded the scope of the investigation and discovered that Ms. Nalatporn and Ms. Panida had collaborated with the first suspects to luring ladies into the sex trade.
The two girls made all allegations and were being detained by police for legal actions.
