Before departing for his native province, Chiang Mai, former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra made a better visit to the City Pillar early on Thursday morning.
At 5.19am, Thaksin arrived on a dark Mercedes-Benz van to give respects to the City Pillar. He was accompanied by his youngest daughter, Pheu Thai Party head Paetongtarn Shinawatra, and her father Pitaka Suksawat, who also traveled on a different Mercedes-Benz vehicle.
He entered the City Pillar temple while wearing a neck prepare and a face mask. He did n’t need a wheelchair or an arm restraint like he did just after receiving his parole last month.
In a conventional way, Thaksin paid respect to the City Pillar, attaching gold to the City Pillar, tying color bands around a town pillar model, and honoring the guardians of the city.
Before departing, he stayed there for 26 hours without speaking to reporters who were prohibited from approaching the police-guarded City Pillar temple.
At 7 a.m., Thaksin’s private flight was scheduled to take him to Chiang Mai state, where he would spend the weekend.
Thaksin, 74, was discharged from Police General Hospital in the morning of Feb 18. He had stayed there for for six months, basically due to severe and existence- threatening conditions, after he , returned to the state  , on the day of Aug 22, 2023.
He was considered to have served at least six weeks of his prison expression despite being admitted to Police General Hospital, according to criminal government because he is over 70 years old, was really ill, and met the requirements for pardon.
After his return to the country on Aug 22, 2023, Thaksin was brought to the Supreme Court, which sentenced him to , eight years , in jail in three cases.
He was then taken to the Bangkok Remand Prison, but late that night- or early the next morning - , corrections officials moved him , to Police General Hospital, saying he needed modern treatment equipment for several critical conditions, including chest pain, hypertension and low blood oxygen.
The eight- year term was reduced to one year in a , royal pardon , in September 2023.
