HDB to pilot new open-concept layout for flats, without walls separating living and bedroom spaces

SINGAPORE: Picture a Build- to- Get ( BTO ) even with a adjacent dwelling and bedroom space- through and never separated by walls.

The Housing and Development Board ( HDB) will be introducing this new open-concept layout as part of a trial, which will begin with a BTO project in the Kallang-Whampoa region that will launch in October. &nbsp,

The project will consist of 310 three- and four-room apartments, and prospective buyers will be able to select the new open-concept structure when they are invited to reserve a level. &nbsp,

The White Flat Layout, or” White Flat Layout,” aims to give homeowners the freedom to set up their living spaces.

Such flats will not&nbsp, have &nbsp, internal walls partitioning the living and bedroom spaces, offering buyers a” white canvas” to design the flat according to their needs and preferences, HDB said on Monday ( May 27 ) after the initiative was announced by&nbsp, National Development Minister Desmond Lee at a pre- university seminar.

This may appeal to young people who may prefer an open-concept apartment or slicing out their home’s spaces using design concepts, HDB said.

” The White Flat captain will also give people the option of installing walls at various stage of life.”
