Gunshots fired at passenger train in far South

NARATHIWAT: Several gunshots were terminated at a Sungai Kolok-bound passenger train within Rueso district about noon on Thursday.

1 bullet pierced the particular locomotive driver’s front side window at mind level.

Fortunately, driver Phiman Mitsuwan and train engineer Himgam Yusor were unhurt.

The No . 171 Bangkok-Sungai Kolok rapid train was attacked between Balo railway station and Rueso railway train station.  

Prachaniwat Buasri, a good assistant locomotive inspector for the State Railway Authority of Asia, said that judging by the particular bullet holes as well as the trajectory it was crystal clear the attacker aimed at the locomotive car owner.

The particular attack had shaken the morale associated with locomotive crews as well as other train staff to the southern line, who have been just doing their particular job, Mr Prachaniwat said.

Services on the line were immediately suspended, affecting the Sungai Kolok-Bangkok express train, Sungai Kolok-Bangkok rapid train and all local locomotives heading to Sungai Kolok.  

Travellers were informed to board or even disembark at Yala railway station. Affected ticket holders may seek refunds from their nearest railway station.
