Gunman kills hi-lo gambler at funeral

PHATTHALUNG: A gunman walked upward behind a bettor and shot him dead during a hi-lo dice game in a funeral in Khuan Khanun district upon Wednesday night.

Two other people were wounded by exiting bullets.

The killing occurred at a home in tambon Chamuang where funeral rites were being kept for a 76-year-old man, Pol Lt Chaiwut Saengchatree, duty official at Khuan Khanun, said. Police were called to the scene about 10. 30pm.

Regarding 20 gamblers had been playing hi-lo when the shooting occurred.

A man strolled up to them, picked up a gun and photo one of the gamblers, Boonlert Sri-ngern, 67, repeatedly in the back. 2 bullets exited from his chest plus hit two other gamblers. Boonlert died at the spot. Kittisak Srisai, 40, had been hit in the still left shoulder and Nittaya Thaemsuk, 54, received a flesh injury.

Witnesses said the gunman was middle-aged, within the cap, T-shirt and shorts. He wandered calmly up to the group before firing 3-4 shots at Mr Boonlert, and then walked away.

Pol Col Sakareeya Yusor, chief of Khuan Khanun police, said the motive was still getting investigated. Possible reasons were a gambling conflict, love triangle or personal question.
