Before the 20-year statute of limitations expires following year, the Women’s Party president and opposition leader Natthaphong Ruengpanyawut said the government is in charge of bringing all accused in the Tak Bai slaughter case to court, including a previous ruling party MP.
Mr. Natthaphong made the remarks during a conversation about Gen Pisal Wattanawongkiri’s withdrawal from Pheu Thai.
No matter whether Gen Pisal also holds an MP card with Pheu Thai or not, the government must make sure he is tried.
Gen Pisal is believed to be worldwide.
The Tak Bai event occurred on Oct 25, 2004, when 85 people were killed.
Gen Pisal was the army’s leader at the time in the southwestern area. The court’s statute did expire next Friday.
On Tuesday, all seven plaintiffs with imprisonment permits, including Gen Pisal, failed to show up at the Narathiwat municipal court to embrace costs.
According to Mr. Natthaphong,” the state has to provide justice to Thais because this case has caused the people of the three southwestern boundary provinces for a long time.”
He also made reference to Gen Pisal’s departure letter, which stated that he would make changes once his health improved, which may occur after the statute of limitations expires.
If it occurs in this manner, people will think that this is an attempt to avoid fairness. People’s trust in the government does drop even more. The government also needs to fulfill its obligations fully, according to Mr. Natthaphong.
” For our piece, we’ll keep looking into this and thoroughly discover the truth”.
Thepthai Senpong, a former Democrat MP, claimed that the Pheu Thai Party did not genuinely worry about the Tak Bai situation because it made Gen Pisal the group list-MP.
Mr. Thepthai claimed that the group did not try to bring Gen Pisal to justice but that it did permit him to take a medical leave from overseas.
He claimed that Pheu Thai did n’t want to lose an MP’s seat, so it allowed Gen Pisal to resign, allowing a new MP to join its party list, and that the party did not want him to.
” The Pheu Thai Party cannot accept responsibility for Tak Bai’s 85 fatalities,” the group said. The tragic event occurred during the state of Thaksin Shinawatra, and its statute of limitations may disappear during the government led by his child, Paetongtarn”, he said.
If no one is charged, it will breed a society where criminals can get ahead with it.
Kamolsak Leewamoh, a Prachachat Party MP for Narathiwat, demanded the express imprisonment and sue all accused in the Tak Bai event.
” We demand justice for the 85 people who died, the 51 who were impaired, and the over 1, 280 people who were detained. The plaintiffs must go through the legal system, he said,” and the Prachachat Party calling on them to do so.”
