A new program, which will help over 4 million homes across the country, will be implemented after the government abruptly terminates the government’s plan to provide financial assistance in the form of a 38.5 billion baht loan.
Under the program, each available house will get 1, 000 ringgit in financial aid per rai of arable land, up to a maximum of 10 rai per household, or 10, 000 baht per available household.
The decision is in line with a government decision from last year, which required state agencies to stop from providing farmers with subsidies and cost guarantees and rather favor support measures intended to increase productivity and competitiveness, according to deputy government spokesman Anukul Pruksanukul.
He claimed that the new aid package may change the cabinet’s suspended fertiliser co-payment program. The compost co-payment scheme’s 29.5 billion-baht funds will be used to fund the financial aid package.
He said the USDA Extension may send the list of available farmers to the BAAC for distribution during the planting season in 2024/25, adding that the funds will be cleared in September of next year.
He claimed that it will provide 4.61 million gardening households with additional income to help them improve their lives and strengthen the local economy.
