Important infrastructure project Laem Chabang Port, which supports the Eastern Economic Corridor ( EEC ) strategy, is fast-tracking phase 3 of the development of the Port.
To examine the progress of the project and coordinate efforts in line with the government’s strict deadlines set by the government on Saturday, assistant transport secretary Manaporn Charoensri and the Laem Chabang Port control visited the site.
She emphasized the importance of the port in reducing Bangkok Port in Klong Toei’s operating strain, which has restrictions on warship size due to its shallow depth. Laem Chabang Port’s container handling capacity has increased to more than 11 million TEUs ( Twenty-Feet Equivalent Units ), surpassing Bangkok Port’s 1.34 million TEU capacity, thanks to the first two work phases.
She stated that” the new development will further increase the city’s ability and operational efficiency.”
She claimed that the second phase, which began last December, includes the construction of roads, utilities, and facilities to enhance logistics and boost cargo flow. The project is anticipated to reduce bottlenecks and help the region’s growing business demand. The CNNC Joint Venture is the contractor for phase 3 of the marine work, according to the Port Authority of Thailand ( PAT ).
All the parties involved are actively monitoring and moving the procedure, giving protection and transparency priority across all activities. The southern wharf area is also in the transition process, which should be completed by November, according to GPC International Terminal Co Ltd.
CHEC ( Thai ) Co, Ltd started work on December 13 last year, and its focus on the construction of the elevated bridge has increased by 0.5 %. The construction’s land side includes buildings, piers, road systems, and utilities. According to PAT, more efforts are being made to ensure that all aspects of the timeframe are met.
The sweet preparation stage is in progress, it added, and the structure of the railroad system is in progress.
The Transport Ministry is “providing the country’s economic growth by making Laem Chabang Port a gate for Asean business, enhancing Thailand’s function as a local shipping hub,” according to Ms. Manaporn.
