Google beefs up Android security to better detect malicious apps amid spike in malware scams

SINGAPORE: Google is improving its Play Protect malware protection program to” adding real-time searching at a script level” in order to more accurately identify whether an Android software may be infected with malware.

Google announced on Thursday( Oct 19 ) that” this enhancement will help better protect people against harmful genetic applications that leverage several methods, such as AI, to be altered to avoid detection.” & nbsp,

Genetic trojan may alter its distinguishable characteristics, preventing detection from Play Protect’s most recent security imaging. Google claims that Play Protect, which was introduced in 2017, already scans 125 billion programs every day.

More than 750 cases of Android malware schemes were reported in Singapore during the first half of 2023, and the total costs were at least S$ 10 million( US$ 7.2 million ). The release comes at a time when this trend has increased. & nbsp,

According to Google, Play Protect used to run real-time checks and alert users when an app was detected as wary by on-device machine learning or was known to be harmful by existing scanning intelligence. & nbsp,
