A 26-year-old man has been detained in Chiang Mai on suspicion of murdering a ride-hailing drivers and allegedly abducting the victim while jetting earrings for about 2.8 million baht.
On Monday evening, the suspect, who police only identified as Nipitpon, was taken into custody at his home in Ban San Um of Choeng Doi in the Doi Saket city.
The suspect used a ride- calling software, asking to get picked up near Ha Lad river in Muang area early on Monday morning, according to Pol Lt Gen Kotthapol Yeesakhon, chief of , Provincial Police Region 5.
He allegedly shot the 48-year-old drivers in the back of the spine while he was sitting behind him while the other vehicle drove the car into a gully close to Wat Pha Lad, where he dumped the body.

Officers discovered 17 gold earrings at the criminal’s home during the arrest, as well as a 9mm handgun and reportedly used clothes during the crime binge.
He was interrogated at Bhubing police stop in Muang city, where he confessed to the acts, according to authorities.
