Gojek driver jailed for driving into condominium pool, ignoring passenger and security guards

SINGAPORE: On Friday( Sept 22 ), a Gojek driver who accidentally drove himself and his elderly passenger into an apartment pool was imprisoned for two weeks.

Singaporean Chean Tuck Heng, 67, admitted guilt to one matter of a hasty action that put machinery’s life in danger. & nbsp,

He had ignored directions from a security guard and his own traveler and had driven up to 60 meters down the wrong path toward the swimming pool, claiming that he knew the way and that the lake was just” water.”

On February 28 of this year, at around 8 p.m., the jury learned that Chean had accepted a Gojek reservation. The daughter of the rider, a 79-year-old woman, made the reservation.

It was raining when Chean picked up the customer from Sengkang and drove her to The Hillside apartment on Upper Bukit Timah Road.

The pilot’s granddaughter had specified in her reservation that she would take the second right turn following the security guardhouse to get to the drop-off point.

A security guard instructed Chean to turn right at the first intersection when he arrived at The Hillside villas.

Chean, but, drove past the intersection otherwise. Additionally, he stated to the security guard that” he knew the way” and” nbsp” that his intention was to turn right at a later intersection.

Chean finally turned and walked over some planted flowers on a tiled sidewalk.

His Honda Vezel was largely on the grass because the staircase was so small.

Chean did not respond when the customer informed him that he had missed the turn at this point.

When another safety watch spotted Chean’s car, he moved closer. He informed Chean that he had driven in a zone where cars were not permitted and that the latter was close to the lake.

Chean ignored his instructions to turn around and head back toward the principal street. Instead, he noticed some tables and chairs on the covered walkway and wanted to turn three times around them.

He insisted that it wasn’t the swimming pool; it was” water.”

The front tires of Chean’s auto finally slid into the pool as he continued to drive before stopping.

The customer exited her passenger entry uninjured because no one was in the 0. 5m-deep swimming at the time.

The security officer made a law call.
