The tour bus driver who was involved in an accident that killed two Chinese nationals on the way down from Genting Highlands on Saturday ( Jun 29 ) has been placed on administrative leave for four days.
The 32-year-old pilot was detained at the Bentong District Police Headquarters on Saturday at around 10.30pm and was then remanded on Sunday to aid in the investigation, according to Bentong city police chief Zaiham Mohd Kahar.
The bus driver allegedly had 27 prior summonses for numerous traffic offenses and did not possess a driving license.
When the vehicle, which was heading to Kuala Lumpur, skidded and hit the road gate, killing two Chinese people and injuring many people at around 11am.
Eight subjects are reportedly in stable condition and are now receiving treatment at the hospital.
Malaysia’s Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture ( MOTAC ) said it would  , temporarily suspend the licence of the tour travel , agency if , investigations reveal the company failed to comply with standard operating procedures ( SOPs ).
Minister Tiong King Sing stated that a thorough research is being conducted into the travel company and its company to look into any SOP violations.
After visiting the crash victims at Kuala Lumpur Hospital on Sunday morning along with Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia Ouyang Yujing, he declared,” If the investigation finds that they ( the travel agency ) are at fault, their license will be immediately suspended.”
Additionally, Tiong added that the investigation will be discussed at a particular meet involving MOTAC, the Transportation Ministry, and the Road Transport Department.
