Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon yesterday welcomed Chinese ambassador, Han Zhiqiang, to Government House to discuss opportunities for Chinese investors and tourism in Thailand.

According to a source, Gen Prawit asked Mr Han to assist in inviting Chinese investors and tourists to invest in and visit Thailand.

Both men agreed their countries have a close relationship that stood strong during the Covid-19 pandemic. Mr Han was praised by Gen Prawit for his hard work regarding relationship development between Thailand and China.

According to Gen Prawit, the government will work with the Chinese government to maintain a positive relationship.

“Both countries will work together on developing their people while strengthening relationships between Asia-Pacific countries,” Gen Prawit added.

Mr Han also agreed with the need for cooperation between the two nations, saying his government would continue providing support for the relationship’s development.

They also discussed Thailand’s success in hosting the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) 2022 summit last month.

Mr Han declared that the hospitality shown by Thailand to Chinese President Xi Jinping during the summit was a success. The summit was Mr Xi’s first visit to Thailand in 11 years, Mr Han added.
